But the late withdrawal of Tomas Machac (the No. 3 seed) moved FAA, seeded No. 5, into his slot.
Which meant that Shapovalov now plays Zhang Zhizhen, which wasn’t as entertaining as you’d expect. Shapovalov won fairly routinely.
Thanasi Kokkinakis, who always plays well in his home city, also is on the sked in Adelaide.
