An attractive final in Monte Carlo in the post Nadal-dominant era, with his Spanish successor Carlos Alcaraz squaring off against the talented one-handed backhanded Italian, Lorenzo Musetti.
Alcaraz, after another slow start, pulled it out and won his first Monte-Carlo title. A well, they had a “local” Monegasque win in the doubles, Romain Arneodo.
In Barcelona, six spots available in the main draw, but Canadian Gabriel Diallo couldn’t get there.
In Munich, with a smaller qualifying draw, four spots were up for grabs but with three late withdrawals, three of the four final-round losers – including two who weren’t even seeded in the qualifying – got through to the main draw.
