–
The first two men’s quarterfinals feature the four players who were supposed to be there on paper.
That hasn’t happened reliably so far this season. But in this case it meant Carlos Alcaraz plays Jack Draper, and No. 2 seed Alexander Zverev met No. 8 (and local hero) Lorenzo Musetti.
Can’t complain about that, not one bit. And once again, Zverev was unable to make his seeding even if in between, he took the Munich tournament.
In addition, the late-night Tuesday match between Casper Ruud and Jaume Munar was called off because of the “late night” rules, rescheduled for Wednesday with Ruud playing the quarterfinal against Sinner on Thursday.
(Rome is six hours ahead of EDT).
