All four semifinalists were among the top six seeds so, despite all the upsets, the pointy end of the tournament will be bereft of an overwhelmed underdog. Which is good news.
The bad news? Djokovic’s body, once again, betrayde him.
The women weere also playing their doubles semifinals as Katerina Siniakova, fresh from her mixed doubles win on Thursday, was still alive for the doubles double. But Hsieh and Ostapenko took her out.
