MONTREAL – It’s been a rough year for 2024 Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova.
Her ranking is down to No. 78 after a lot of time off with injury. And most of her points from winning Wimbledon a. year ago (when she was ranked No. 17) dropped off after she lost a heartbreaker in the third round this year to Emma Navarro.
So she has to build back up again.
And now, first up in Montreal is Bianca Andreescu, who is the home girl in this tournamen and won it in 2019 when he was held in Toronto. So that doesn’t help.
On the plus side, Krejcikova looks fitter and healthier than she did at Roland Garros, when she was just coming back after being out since the WTA Tour Finals in early November, 2024.
