MONTREAL – One of the (many) issues with the expanded draws in Canada is that there’s just … not enough room.
Mostly, not enough practice courts.
So a lot of the top players have been pretty scarce around the grounds in the first few days, with alternate practice courts at a public facility not too far away.
But then – here’s Karolina Muchova on Tuesday!
The 28-year-old is still ranked No. 14, despite being only 13-10 on the season and missing chunks of time.
She went out in the first round in both Roland Garros and Wimbledon and at the former, basically tried to play with a one-handed bachand.
That was her first match since she lost in the third round in Miami in March.
Muchova’s career has been star-crossed, to say the least. She has a 2024 semifinal at the US Open coming up to defend, so that’s where a big chunk of her points are.
She gets qualifier Antonia Ruzic in her first match in Montreal on Wednesday.
Here’s what she looked like in practice – still looked like she was taking it easy on the left arm.
