An opportunity for Canadian Victoria Mboko to win her second title of the year – an impressive turnaround after she struggled to even win matches after her breakout achievement in Montreal in August.
She has rounded into form, slowly, on the Asian swing. And in this final tournament of the season in Hong Kong, took care of Canadian rival Leylah Fernandez and fought a huge battle with Cristina Bucsa in the final before prevailing.
In Jiangxi, the lovely and rising Lilli Tagger, just 17 and in her first WTA-level tournament, took on the far more experienced Anna Blinkova in that final. And the Russian won.
And in Chennai, the fast-rising Janice Tjen won both the singles and doubles.
