The big gun on the Canucks This Week beat this week is Félix Auger-Aliassime, who qualified for the ATP Finals on Saturday night, and will open Monday against Jannik Sinner.
Meanwhile, the WTA season is over. But the Canadian women are not done.
They have a Billie Jean King Cup playoff weekend in Monterrey, Mexico, with ties against Denmark (and Clara Tauson) and the home team, Mexico.
The Canadians, who won it all in 2022, are down at the Qualifiers stage again because they didn’t win their pool in a playoff round in Japan in April.
If they win, they’ll move up to the qualifiers stage next year. If not, they’ll drop down again as the event sort of morphs back to what it was, and be back in the “Regional Group I Americas” level.
Beyond that, there are still a ton of Canadians competing at the lower levels, with a good number of them at a W50 in Chihuaha, Mexico.
