Félix Auger-Aliassime’s left calf was the focus on Wednesday as he tries again, after a day off, and this time against Ben Shelton.
Auger-Aliassime pulled the calf at the end of the first set against Jannik Sinner on Monday. And that was about all she wrote, even if he downplayed it after the match.
As it turns out, after a rather restrained start, it was fine.
Actually, it was really good.
Sinner faced Alexander Zverev, who looked tremendous against Shelton. and who is just 4-5 against SInner in the head-to-head. But Sinner has won the last four, and Zverev hasn’t beaten him since 2022 even if (putting Paris aside, where Zverev had ankle issues) he has played him pretty tight in most of their matches.
This one was pretty routing.
