Yuliia Starodubtseva was the top seed in qualifying originally – the last one into the main draw after late withdrawal. And she’s making the most of it by getting to the final of a 500-level event.
The other three semifinalists in Charleston were all American top-20 players. So that’s good company. But Madison Keys didn’t bring much to the table in a quick loss to the Ukrainian.
In Bogota, a rare doubles combo between a Ukrainian and a Russian made the final, but the top seeds took the title.
