Canadian Cleeve Harper, who jumped into the top 100 in doubles in April and is currently at No. 93, made only his third appearance in the main draw of an ATP-level event on Tuesday.
The first game back in 2022 at the Rogers Cup in Montreal, on a wild card. The scond came in late March at the clay-court tournament in Houston. In both cases, he had very tough draws. So he was looking for his first career win in Bastad and, faced with another quality team, fell just short.
Also returning – Mikael Ymer, the younger Ymer brother, who had to serve a doping suspension because of whereabouts failures, announced his retirement, changed his mind, and is back.
Ymer, now 26, was top 50 two years ago. He’s played some; notably two Challengers in Europe on clay in June. He’s currently ranked No. 618; this is his first main-draw match at the ATP level since Eastbourne in 2023.
