It would have been nice to see Leylah Fernandez on the stadium court playing Mirra Andreeva. But not to be as she lost a marathon in her opener, and victoria Katerina Siniakova got that privilege – and a big win.
As with the men, it’s hard to find must-sees. But a little easier than for the ATP, depending on form.
Maria Sakkari, who is somewhat resurgent, was taking on an Iga Swiatek still searching for herself in 2026. But it wasn’t close.
And Marta Kostyuk, who is just coming back in the desert after an ankle ligament issue in January, had the goods to trouble Elena Rybakina. But she couldn’t quite get there.
(Indian Wells is three hours behind ET).
