For young American Learner Tien, it was a chance to measure himself against world No. 2 Jannik Sinner. He didn’t come out well.

And for young Frenchman Arthur Fils, a chance to pick off No. 4 Alexander Zverev. That also didn’t come off well.

And defending Jack Draper, who needed everything he had and more to knock off Novak Djokovic on Wednesday, didn’t have much left for Daniil Medvedev.
