The first meeting between the two went entirely Raonic's way at this year's Australian Open.
.
Stefanos Tsitsipas is getting better at it.
But throughout his career – even going back to the juniors – having a Canadian on the other side of the net has meant his chances of winning the match were … not very good.
It didn’t even matter if they were ranked lower than he was.
His first meeting with the dean of the country’s men’s tennis corps, Milos Raonic, fit that pattern.
Tsitsipas faced Raonic in the third round of the Australian Open, when he was the No. 6 seed and Raonic just squeezed into the final spot, at No. 32.
Raonic won in straight sets. And Tsitsipas’s success rate against his first serve was … woeful.
The Greek star has faced two of the biggest servers in the game, back-to-back, this week at the “Cincy” event. Will it be enough practice to help Tsitsipas turn that first result around?
We preview the “Cincy” semifinal clash at SBD.
