INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – From extremely aggravated, to “You people in my box? You’re dead”, to “I almost want to laugh right now, but I can’t make my face go that way,” and everything in between, Andy Murray was in fine form against Milos Raonic Wednesday.
(If you can’t see the slideshow on your iPad, click here to go directly to the YouTube version).
Not visible in these pics, of course, was the stream of profanity.
As much as many in Murray’s legion of cyberfans find all that stuff amusing – “Oh, that’s just Andy being Andy” – the reality was that every single person sitting around me courtside today was quite offended (and no, they weren’t all 80 years old). And they paid a lot of money for those seats.
Mostly, they thought, if my kid is sitting here watching this and wants to “be like Andy”, what do I do then?
Our poor ballgirl, who may or may not have been a nanosecond late in her attempt to read Murray’s mind and fetch his towel on one occasion, really got the what-for. Hopefully her parents send the therapy bill to Team Andy.
