SBD Preview – Can Nadal win No. 6 in Madrid?

A few surprising bits of data from this year’s Mutua Madrid Open on the men’s side.

Rafael Nadal has *only* won it five times. Which is a lot for anyone, but paltry relative to the trophies he has racked up at most of the other clay-court tournaments.

And, there are five top-30 players in the draw who have … never played in the Madrid Open main draw before.

In fact, Nadal has five more appearances at the tournament (17) then the next nine players behind him on the outright odds list. Combined.
