{"id":49589,"date":"2017-07-23T10:13:21","date_gmt":"2017-07-23T14:13:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/opencourt.ca\/wordpress\/?p=49589"},"modified":"2020-04-03T10:15:10","modified_gmt":"2020-04-03T14:15:10","slug":"full-court-for-steve-johnson-sr-memorial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/opencourt.ca\/2017\/07\/23\/full-court-for-steve-johnson-sr-memorial\/","title":{"rendered":"Full court for Steve Johnson Sr. memorial"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The celebration of life for Steve Johnson, Sr., the beloved Southern California tennis coach and father of top American player Stevie Johnson, drew a full court Saturday morning at the Orange High School tennis courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/tennis.life\/2017\/05\/13\/steve-johnson-sr-passes-away\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Johnson died unexpectedly in May, far too young, at age 58<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The memorial was scheduled two months later so that son Steve, who was in Europe playing the long stretch between the French Open and Wimbledon, could attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that&nbsp;contributions be made in Johnson&#8217;s honor to the OHS Tennis Program, the idea being to use the funds to resurface the tennis courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Contributions welcome<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/obits.ocregister.com\/obituaries\/orangecounty\/obituary.aspx?n=steven-frederick-johnson&amp;pid=185507178&amp;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here to read the obituary<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to contribute, send a check to Orange High School, 525 N Shaffer St. Orange, CA 92867, and reference Steve Johnson Sr.&#8217;s name in the memo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Inspiring to see how many people came out today to coach Steve&#39;s celebration of life.
