MELBOURNE – A fairly relaxed warmup (except for a reported mosquito bite in the eye :-O )
Rafael Nadal probably wasn’t expecting American Tim Smyczek to give him a huge tussle on Rod Laver Arena Wednesday night. But you never know.
He doubled over a couple of times, but it didn’t look like he was in any pain or anything. He was sweating like a mofo just a few minutes in, but it was noticeably hotter and more humid today than previous days and, well, Rafa’s a sweater.
Meanwhile, it should be noted that as fresh as those Nike shorts Nadal has been wearing in “public” – i.e. on the big court – are, he’s not been wearing them in practice. Just reg’lar.
