MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

RG ’15 pics: Young guns Sock and Coric warm up

PARIS – A lot of kids on the courts at Roland Garros Saturday – and it’s not even kids’ day.

In addition to young Aussies Thanasi Kokkinakis and Nick Kyrgios, who were to face Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray, respectively, another eagerly anticipated match is the one between 18-year-old Borna Coric of Croatia and 22-year-old American Jack Sock.

Coric is obviously the more precocious of the two, while Sock is – relatively speaking, he’s just 22 – a later bloomer who has made his first noise in doubles with Canadian partner Vasek Pospisil.

But here he is in the third round, after a routine upset over No. 10 seed Grigor Dimitrov in the first round.

The two warmed up on adjacent courts Saturday morning; Coric on Court 4 (right), and Sock next door on Court 5.

Here’s a little panorama.

And here are some pics. Both were pretty relaxed; sitting down to get some water, Coric chatted amiably with some fans in the stands (they might have been friends of his, who knows, but still).

They will play on Court 2 later on.

The advantage to being out on the field courts, unlike with Kokkinakis, for example, is that they don’t have to share. Kokkinakis and Djokovic, sharing Suzanne Lenglen earlier this morning to warmup before their match, were hitting on the same side of the court for awhile and nearly collided. Imagine if something like that happened.

He quickly changed sides.
