Video: Wimbledon 2011 flashback – Frank Dancevic

As Frank Dancevic’s 2015 Wimbledon qualifying quest gets under way, here’s a flashback.

Back in 2011, Dancevic didn’t drop a set on his way to the main draw.

Here’s what he said afterwards (it was a little windy).

The main event didn’t go so well; Dancevic was easily up two sets to none on Ricardo Mello of Brazil, because losing it in five. As crushing defeats go, it had staying power; Dancevic later said it took him quite some time to get over that one.

Better to remember last year, when he lost to Jimmy Wang in the final around, but got in as a lucky loser (a lot of guys did last year) and upset Ivo Karlovic in the first round – in straight sets no less – pretty much out of nowhere.

Also worth noting: we ran into someone from Tenniszon, the online retailer based in Montreal, and was told that Dancevic was getting some sponsorship help from them, in conjunction with Asics. So he’ll be wearing some Asics gear (yes, that means, though not at Wimbledon, the horrid khaki and neon stuff Vasek Pospisil and others have been wearing), as well as a Tenniszon patch.

Good stuff; no doubt Dancevic could use the help.
