MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

Petra Cetkovska: When the body won’t cooperate

WIMBLEDON: Why is a women with 47 ITF titles, two WTA Tour doubles titles, and a career best of No. 25 reached just three years ago, ranked No. 162 and in the Wimbledon qualifying?

When you look at these pics of Czech veteran Petra Cetkovska, you can certainly find part of the answer.

The pretty essential body parts you need to play tennis at a high level are all taped to the gills.

It all seemed to have started in 2012 – the year she was at her best. A right adductor, left quad, and right knee injuries at the start of the season. Later, from the Olympics to the rest of the season, out with a right ankle injury.

From the beginning of 2013 through the French Open, it was a left foot injury. In 2014, it was everything after the U.S. Open with a left hip injury.

Seriously.

Cetkovska did qualify last week, and gave Timea Babos a tough match before succumbing in the first round.
