MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

Ana Ivanovic’s coaching carousel goes full circle (pics and video)

It’s now official: Ana Ivanovic has reunited with British coach Nigel Sears.

Is there any job in tennis with less security than being the coach of Ana Ivanovic?

She seems to always be looking for something she can’t quite find. If we know anything about life, it’s that the best solutions usually come from within. But Ivanovic is a relentless searcher as she’s all about the process.

Nevertheless, the amiable Serb is over her “countryman coach” phase and is back with Brit Nigel Sears.

Here’s what she said on Facebook about it.

Now, the serve is not a new focus; it’s been her Achilles’ heel throughout her career. And surely Sears isn’t the first coach to tell Ivanovic (who is quite competent up there) she can come to the net more.

Here she is working on her serve in Australia three years ago with Sears. Her parents stood there the whole time, watching her practice her serve. It was weird.

Here she is working on her serve again – with targets – a few days after that.

Here she is working on her serve at Indian Wells last year.

And here she is working on her serve just before the start of Wimbledon this year.

In short, there’s been a whole lot of working on her serve.

What do we remember most about the first Nigel Sears era? To be frank, that’s when Ivanovic was at her scary-skinniest. It wasn’t as though she set the world on fire with her results during that period.

She looked much healthier, and happy, at Wimbledon this year. Let’s hope that doesn’t change. And we’ll give her full props for her relentless and refreshing optimism.
