It certainly didn’t get 1-1000th the play of Genie Bouchard’s unfortunate accident, but another tennis player is feeling the effects of a concussion, and has pulled out of the WTA Tour Finals in Singapore.
Veteran Aussie Casey Dellacqua, who qualified for the Tour Finals with Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan, was a last-minute withdrawal Thursday. For good reason.

It’s hard to imagine she thought this was realistic, but you can’t blame her for wanting to try.
The amazing thing is that until now, there was absolutely no mention of this – anywhere that we could find. Beijing is a big, top-level joint event, presumably with a lot of media attending. And there hasn’t been a single peep. Not a criticism, just amazement.
Dellacqua’s last match was a tight loss in the Beijing semi-finals, 12-10 in the match tiebreak to the Chan sisters.
The Spanish team of Garbiñe Muguruza and Carla Suárez Navarro will replace them, which means Muguruza will be in both singles and doubles.
