MONTREAL – She warmed it up slowly, but Venus Williams did end up cranking some serves at a respectable pace during her warmup Thursday for her match against Madison Keys.
She hit a few groundstrokes, did a few patterns where she approached with a backhand down the line and then volleyed into the open court, a few volleys and serve returns.
And then she served, but only from the ad side.
We’ll see if the “issues” that affected her in her first match Wednesday pop again against Keys, which could be pretty fatal to her chances.
