KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. – Canadian Genie Bouchard has won just one singles match at the Miami Open in her career – the very first one she played here, in the first round in 2013 against the recently-retired Shahar Pe’er of Israel.
It’s a record she’d certainly like to turn around, especially in her hometown and a place where she has just made a serious real-estate investment.
Here she is warming up with Romania’s Patricia Tig earlier today.
Despite her ranking having fallen out of the top 50, Bouchard still was given a stadium-court slot Wednesday, against wild card Ashleigh Barty of Australia.
