Two years ago, Eric Sock was a day away from dying.
He contracted Lemierre’s Syndrome, a rare bacterial infection, and spend three weeks in the hospital hooked up to a ventilator.
Wednesday in Atlanta, Eric and his younger brother Jack played doubles together in an official ATP Tour match.
They lost, 6-3, 6-4. But it was the getting there.
Sock, now 26, played college tennis in at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
He is a teaching pro at the Elite Squad Tennis Club in Kansas.
