Alan Little, Wimbledon’s honorary librarian and resident historian, attended the tournament every year since 1948.
This year ended up being his finale.
The former tennis writer and impetus behind the creation of the AELTC Wimbledon museum and library passed away last week, at age 89.
Little built the library’s collection to more than 6,000 books. Among those are 35 he wrote himself including 27 editions of the Wimbledon Compendium.
He was made an honorary AELTC member in 1985 and awarded an MBE for “services to tennis” in 2014. This year, he was given the AELTC’s Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his 40 years of service.
