The price of progress.

As part of the refurbishment of the French Open site at Roland-Garros, one of its most intimate, atmosphere-filled courts has bitten the dust.

That’s No. 2, which was twinned with No. 3 and allowed fans to stand up on a walkway and keep track of both. It’s gone, part of the work to add a roof to nearby Court Philippe Chatrier.

Court No. 1, also known as the Bullring – another perfect place to watch tennis, is also disappearing in favour of a grassy viewing area à la Henman Hill

“Le Mont de La Monf'”, maybe?
