If you wondered why Caroline Wozniacki still made the trip to play the WTA Tour event in St. Petersburg, Russia this week, it was all about the celebration.
The tournament organized a big ceremony to not only celebrate Wozniacki’s win at the Australian Open last Saturday, but to commemorate her taking over the No. 1 ranking.
She looked like she enjoyed every minute of it.
Wozniacki had a bye, and didn’t play her first match until Thursday. She was impressive in that one, but fell to No. 8 seed Daria Kasatkina in the quarterfinals on Friday.
