Djokovic involved in Brazilian court case

Novak Djokovic did nothing wrong.

But he’s named in a lawsuit stemming from a 2012 appearance in Rio de Janeiro.

The state prosecutor’s office filed a civil action Tuesday to recover $850,000 in public funds. It names Djokovic, the state, officials and soccer star Dejan Petrovic.

Sounds like the usual financial shenanigans between the public and private sectors in Brazil.

According to Globoesporte, Djokovic still has only been paid about 40 per cent of a $1.1 million US fee.

Djokovic’s representatives have been trying to get the balance owed from the state government, with whom he signed the agreement.
