Townsend, Rubin earn RG wild cards

Noah Rubin and Taylor Townsend are going to the French Open, as winners of the USTA’s reciprocal wild-card challenge.

It’s not the first time both have gotten in this way.

Rubin earned a pass into the 2016 Australian Open.

Townsend earned them into the 2014 and 2016 French Opens and the 2017 Australian Open.

Ironically, Townsend would have been straight in based on her ranking every single week this year – except for three weeks in April, during which the French Open deadline fell.

Six out as of today, she may still get in on her own.

She’s currently ranked No. 76.
