On-court distress for Ons Jabeur

TORONTO – Ons Jabeur followed in the legendary footsteps of Pete Sampras Saturday at the Rogers Cup.

Not to minimize it, because we’re told she’s okay. But the Tunisian player handled a very delicate situation impressively.

She walked over to her chair, and waited as the chair umpire hopped down to find an appropriate … receptacle.

She did what she had to do, and got right back to work even though it was obviously she wasn’t feeling very well.

Jabeur, the No. 8 seed in the qualifying, beat Canadian Françoise Abanda 6-4, 6-3 in that match, despite her physical distress.

She’ll play American lefty Francesca Di Lorenzo Sunday for a spot in the main draw.

Here’s what it looked like (And yes, it’s suitable for work).

Although the woman who was courtside and hid her face with her hat still might be a little traumatized.

It’s definitely not something you expect to happen right in front of you at … a tennis match).

But it turns out it’s not the first time this has happened to Jabeur, even this summer. We’re told she vomited several times on court during a match at the grass-court tuneup in Mallorca.
