MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

Fed Cup qualifier moved from China

The ITF is moving the Asia/Oceania Group I qualifying event from China to Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.

The statement from the ITF makes no mention of concerns about the coronavirus, but rather states “increasing travel restrictions” in China after consultation with “independent security advisors”.

The original site, the Dongguan Tennis Centre, is about 50 miles north of Shenzhen in Guangdong province, some 600 miles south of Wuhan.

There will be no “home squad” as Kazakshtan, which hosted last year, saw its team promoted.

Wang Qiang, Zhang Shuai, Hsieh Su-Wei, the Chan sisters and Sania Mirza (if healthy) are among the players nominated.
