There were some very tough first rounds in Rome on the WTA Tour this week.
And the battle between 2018 French Open junior champion Coco Gauff and 2011 French Open junior champ Ons Jabeur was promising.
Jabeur would be a game-changer on the women’s tour if she were fully engaged and showing off all her skills every match.
That, so far, doesn’t happen as often as it might. And Gauff took full advantage of this in a straight-sets win.
In another upset, this time involving a multiple Grand Slam champion, Katerina Siniakova (more known for her doubles prowess) easily disposed of Angelique Kerber.
