No one knew at the time that Iga Swiatek would end up winning the whole thing.
But the 19-year-old from Poland swept through everyone in the draw who was in her path, including a resurgent Genie Bouchard in the third round.
The two played on Court Simonne-Mathieu, before as many photographers as fans.
Here’s what it looked like.
Afterwards, Bouchard posed for a selfie on her way out.
And then it got a little complicated as Swiatek went over to a group of Polish fans who had been enthousiastically supporting her.
The security people got a little flustered, there was a lot of discussion.
But in the end, the fans got their money pic.
Despite all of the protocols put in place ahead of the tournament, there was definitely not nearly enough distance between players and fans in some cases.
Just another example of how, in the end, we were all lucky to escape relatively unscathed.
