Their singles runs in Melbourne did not go as planned, with Pospisil drawing Daniil Medvedev in the first round, and Shapovalov losing to his good pal Félix Auger-Aliassime.
But there was hope in the doubles.
The first match, against the pickup team of Andrej Martin and Tristan-Samuel Weissborn, went fine.
But they ran up against an awfully good pair in the second round. And Americans Nick Monroe and Frances Tiafoe took care of them in straight sets.
