SBD Preview: Miami Open women’s singles

The qualifying is already well under way Monday in the parking lot of the Hard Rock Stadium (we exaggerate only a tad), as the Miami Open has kicked off after last year’s cancellation because of the pandemic.

With Serena Williams the only top-20 player not on hand after a last-minute oral surgery issue, the women’s field is far superior to the men’s.

And, as usual in Miami, the field also is wide open.

Since Williams last one it, none of the champions have been higher than No. 10 seed.
