Jannik Sinner has practiced a fair bit with Novak Djokovic.
Now, he’ll get to face him in a real match, in a Masters 1000.
The 19-year-old Miami Open finalist made fairly routine work of solid clay-courter Albert Ramos-Viñolas Tuesday, defeating him 6-3, 6-4 to move into the second round.
Now, he’ll face the world No. 1.
“I think he has more experience than me, obviously. I don’t think that’s an advantage or not. I played today one match which can give me a little bit the feeling back on clay,” Sinner said during a Zoom conference. “I’m looking forward to a great battle, trying to play my tennis, trying to, yeah, make my tennis, then we will see what’s happening.”
Here’s Sinner on that.
And here’s what Djokovic had to say about this potential matchup, before the tournament began.
