The two best clay-courters in the Monte Carlo draw had contrasting results Thursday in the third round.

While Novak Djokovic was sub-par in a loss to Dan Evans, No. 3 seed Rafael Nadal – the 11-time champion – was unbeatable in dispatching No. 14 seed Grigor Dimitrov 6-1, 6-1.

It took (gulp) just 55 minutes to get the job done.

Nadal will now play either No. 6 seed Andrey Rublev or No. 9 Roberto Bautista Agut in the quarterfinals.
