MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

Tokyo Olympic Event – Day 2 DOUBLES final results

With the elimination of Gabriela Dabrowski and Sharon Fichman, the No. 7 seeds in the first round of women’s doubles on Saturday, Canada has no more participants in the doubles.

Hopefully we’ll see Dabrowski and Félix Auger-Aliassime in the mixed; the sign in for that is Tuesday in Tokyo.

They are planning to play; but a lot of water under the bridge between now and then.

It would (to say the least), be Auger-Aliassime’s first big-time mixed doubles experience.

Meanwhile, Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic had their sartorial act together – after what happened in Rio (above). They were not matchy-matchy enough (something they blamed on the FFT paper pushers. Garcia, then sponsored by Nike, had to take a Mladenovic adidas dress and turn it inside out to pass inspection.

But they didn’t have their tennis act together sufficiently, and so they went down. And their Olympics are over.

(11 a.m. Tokyo time is 10 p.m. Saturday night EDT).
