Later, there was Gaël Monfils and … Novak Djokovic – who returned to action and was pushed hard by the usual solid effort (so often in vain) by Marton Fucsovics.

A lot of three-setters, which meant that the final match of the day didn’t start until well after 11:30 p.m.
