Andy Murray and Nick Kyrgios were wild cards into the “Melbourne Summer Set” event at Melbourne Park.

But they were the two matches that get Rod Laver Arena – the only one of the bigger stadiums on site that are being used Tuesday.

Kyrgios ended up withdrawing. Murray lost in three sets to an Argentine for whom it was only the fourth career match win on hard court (and he’s been around awhile).

So it was that kind of day.

Rafael Nadal and Jaume Munar, who got into the doubles as alternates, ended up on Court 13 in a victory that thrilled those who packed into the small court to see them.
