The women get short shrift as the “semi” mid-week start for the WTA 1000 in Madrid has led to there not being any other WTA events this week.
There is a 125-level tournament, but while the moving up of the women to extend Madrid to 10 days might give the women the sole spotlight for the first round, it penalizes a lot of other players.
The men have two ATP 250 events this week – Estoril (where Félix Auger-Aliassime is the top seed) and Munich.
