WIMBLEDON – Defending champion Novak Djokovic, as is tradition, opened play on Centre Court Monday, as the 2022 edition of Wimbledon got under way. He got through a tricky one in four sets.

Andy Murray also got centre-court duties and got through in four.

The only upset was a shocker from Hubert Hurkacz, who lost to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in a wild one.

And Carlos Alcaraz, wearing a sleeve over his right arm, survived a scare from Jan-Lennard Struff, who generally would be a tough customer but has barely played in months because of injury.
