Another busy day for Hubert Hurkacz, who found himself in the singles semifinal Saturday afternoon, and the doubles semifinal late at night – or, more accurately, early this morning.

And in Cincinnati, things are already getting under way. And Andy Murray, who got a wild card into the qualifying and was prepared to play on Saturday, was next into the main draw and ended up getting in at the last minute.

Patriotically, it was countryman Jack Draper who inadvertently did him a favour by losing Friday night, and therefore no longer being eligible for the special exempt spot.

Players like Lorenzo Sonego and Jaume Munar and No. 1 qualifying seed Lorenzo Musetti, who weren’t in Montreal, are starting their summer hard-court swings.

To wit, Fabio Fognini was the No. 2 seed in Montreal; he’s the No. 9 seed in Cincinnati.
