Open Court

MORE TENNIS THAN YOU'LL EVER NEED

By Federer standards, it was a good but not great season.

He reached 10 finals. But he went only 5-5 in those finals.

Federer went 65-13 with five titles that year, which began with one of the Rod Laver exhibition fundraisers during which he hung out with Serena Williams, for one.

He won the Australian Open – and lost, in a shocker, to Robin Soderling at Roland Garros.

He also lost, in another shocker, to Tomas Berdych at Wimbledon.

Federer also dropped that dramatic 7-5 in the fifth-set match to Novak Djokovic in the US Open final.

Ranked No. 2, he capped off the year winning the ATP Finals, beating No. 1, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 7 with the loss of just one set (to No. 1 Nadal in the final).

Here’s an Open Court look back at the 2010 season.
