Gabriela Dabrowski and partner Giuliana Olmos were looking for the title in Tokyo, which would once again put them atop the race to the WTA Finals in Texas. And they got it.

In Tokyo, two unseeded players were in the final including Zheng Qinwen, who was looking for her first career title. She was right in there until 5-5 in each set against the slightly more experienced Liudmila Samsonova. And there, the Russian took over.

In Seoul, a Russian was as well – Ekaterina Alexandrova.
