It wasn’t to be for the Israeli fans as longtime doubles star Jonathan Erlich wasn’t able to make the date, teamed with Novak Djokovic, to say his farewell in a rare, unexpected appearance in his homeland.

Erlich was suffering from back spasms, which began during practice for his finale, that were so bad he couldn’t even be at 50 per cent. And so he and Djokovic had to bow out and settle for an on-court ceremony instead.
