GUADALAJARA – In all of her long, accomplished career, there were a few things Petra Kvitova had never experienced.
Until Monday in Guadalajara.
She had never played at altitude (Madrid doesn’t count, says Kvitova and … most people).
She had never had a match delayed by several hours because of … a bee infestation.
And now, something else the 32-year-old Czech star has never done will happen on Tuesday.
She will face Bianca Andreescu for the first time.
As Kvitova pointed out, they’ve never even practiced together.
So this seasoned veteran is having a newbie kind of week.
She talks about it here, after a 6-4, 6-2 victory over fellow lefty Bernarda Pera of the U.S.
