The Canadian is down to the No. 25 seed, and he had a potentially tough matchup in fellow lefty Ugo Humbert. Humbert was once in the top 30, but has fallen way down and is working his way back up. It turned out to be a tough two opponents – Humbert, and Shapovalov himself.
The bottom half of the men’s draw is in action and that included Stefanos Tsitsipas (who is out in his opener).
